The only item in this collection that caught my eye was this: the Pure Colour Five Colour Eyeshadow Palette in Violet Underground.
The colours in the Violet Underground Pure Colour Five Colour Eyeshadow Palette. Absolutely gorgeous in my opinion!!
I don't know why this photo is so dark >-< It's taken on the exact same setting as the other photos in this post.
This palette comes with two tiny dual ended applicators. One with a brush on one end and an oval-shape sponge tip applicator on the other end while the other has an oval-shape sponge tip applicator on one end and a tapered sponge tip on the other.
Dry swatches. From left: top left shade- frosty fuchsia pink with pink micro shimmers, top right shade- metallic bronzy brown, bottom left- frosty peachy beige with gold shimmers, bottom right- violet blue with a black base and blue shimmers and middle shade- black with a hint of shimmers.
When applied wet, the colours appear more opaque with a stronger metallic sheen.
This eyeshadow palette is absolutely stunning, both in terms of colour as well as the quality of the eyeshadows. The palette has a gorgeous combination of neutral shades (bronzy brown, peachy beige and black) as well as more vibrant shades (fuchsia pink and the violet blue shade), making it a versatile palette that can be used to create both neutral and vibrant makeup looks. The texture of these shadows is quite unique, as it feels like a wet/creamy powder to the touch. The texture is smooth and buttery with great colour payoff while being very easy to blend. The fallout is very minimal if there's any at all (hardly noticeable if you ask me).
The MAC In Extra Dimension eyeshadows seem to have a similar texture but the wear time and colour intensity are not nearly as good as these Estee Lauder ones. I have reviewed the MAC ones that were released earlier this year and you can see that post HERE if you are interested. For your information, MAC is releasing another 8 shades in the Extra Dimension Eyeshadow formula in the Glamour Daze holiday collection for 2012.
These eyeshadows stay put very well too!! With or without a primer, it stayed on my oily lids impeccably for over 8 hours. I haven't used it wet on my eyes yet so I am not sure how well it will perform that way. However, the colour intensity and staying power is so good even when it's dry that I don't see the need to use it wet at all, unless you are looking for a very pronounced metallic finish.
This is one of the best eyeshadow palettes that I have tried and I am definitely curious to try out other shades in the Pure Colour line to see if they are as amazing as this one.
I wore all 5 shades in this look without a primer. I swept the peachy beige shade all over the lids as a color wash and then I applied the bronzy brown shade on the outer third of my upper lids. After that, I used a gel pencil to line my upper lash line and my outer lower waterline. I then used the black shade in the palette to smudge out my top lashline to give it a slight smokey look.
For my bottom lashline, I used the violet blue shade on the outer corners and the fuchsia shade on the middle portion of my lower lashline, slightly blended into the blue. Lastly, I used the peachy beige colour to highlight the inner tearduct area.
