Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base Review

Hi everyone. I am going to apologize for my disappearance from blogland for over a week. My new macbook pro has been a problem child and it has been dying on me all the time. So I had to send it in to the service centre, and as a result, I have been computer-less for the past week or so. (Can't believe I survived this ordeal to be honest)

To my horror, the problem seem to still be around. Some online forums suggest that the cause of such kernel panics (the actual name of the problem) might be due Google Chrome. So I have switched over to Safari for now and all I can do now is pray strong and hard that my macbook pro will not die on me again.

Anyways, makeup!! I am going to share my thoughts on the Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base today.

This product seems to be a favourite of many beauty bloggers and youtubers. I have been wanting to get it for a long long time and I finally caved recently during a beauty promotion at my local departmental store (I got a RM10 cash voucher for every RM100 spent). Best decision ever because I am in love!!!

Here's what the colour looks like. I think it can look a tad orange when built up (left swatch) but it looks very natural when it is buffed into the skin.

I am not very keen on bronzers because I am quite fair and bronzers can look very orange and unnatural on me. This product only comes in one shade and I was very skeptical when I first swatched it heavily. However, one I blended it into the skin, I was completely sold.

Although this product is called a bronzing makeup base, I prefer to use it as a cream bronzer. You can still use it as an all over base but I like to apply it over foundation/bb cream/ tinted moisturizer to add a little hint of bronze into my complexion. I sometimes apply it on the high points of my cheeks for an all over sun-kissed glow or alternatively, I will apply on the hollows of my cheeks, temples and under my jaw for contouring. I like to apply it with my real techniques buffing brush/ multi task brush.

The texture is very smooth and balm-like, and it blends very well into the skin. You can also build up the colour for a more intense look if you prefer. Although it is a cream texture, it dries down to a matte finish so it works well on my oily skin. I am very surprised at how well this product lasts on my skin. It fades a little past 6 hours but it will stay on for most of the day.

This product has the typical Chanel floral scent, and I quite like it personally. The packaging is plastic but it still feels nice and sturdy. I highly recommend this product if you like a natural finish and have a fair to medium skin tone (I don't think this product will show up well on darker skin tones).

A very simple and quick look.

Base: Lioele Beyond the Solution bb cream all over the face with Estee Lauder Line Smoothing Disappear concealer to conceal my dark circles and blemishes. I set everything with a Laura Mercier Pressed Powder.

Eyes: I used Urban Decay's Naked eye shadow to fill in the front half of my brow and Buck for the ends. Then I used Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour on my upper lash line, upper waterline and outer corners of my lower lash line, blending with a pencil brush. Last but not least, I applied a few layers of Dejavu Lash Knockout mascara.

Cheeks: I used the SOLEIL TAN DE CHANEL BRONZING MAKEUP BASE to contour (hollows of my cheeks, temples and under my jaw). Then I used MAC Immortal Flower blush and Dior Shimmer Powder in Amber Diamond on the highpoints of my face.

Lips: I used my new favourite Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti.

I will be going away this weekend so please excuse my delay in replying to comments. I will also pick a winner for my giveaway when I get back!!
