RMK 15th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette Review

Hi everyone. Does anyone have a weakness for limited edition collections? I know I do. Somehow the special packaging and the fact that it's "limited" seems to be able to rope me in every time.

When I first laid my eyes on the RMK 15th anniversary eyeshadow palettes, I knew that I had to track them down because these palettes are simply beautiful.

Look at the gorgeous packaging!! These palettes are in such a unique packaging that is unlike anything that I own.

When you remove the lid, this is what the inside of the palette looks like. All the surfaces are mirrored, which looks very pretty but attracts finger prints like crazy though.

This palette comes with a dual ended brush.
I am normally not a big fan of the brushes/ applicators that come with palettes because the quality are usually quite "meh". I have to say that this brush is really nice, with the bristles being really soft and quite dense.

There are 2 palettes in the range. 01 Brown and 02 Gray.

01 Brown palette. From left: satin finish medium tan with fine golden shimmers, sheer shimmery gold (mainly looks like a wash of gold and silver shimmers), shimmery pastel pink with pink shimmers & sheer light beige-tone tan with gold shimmers.

02 Gray palette. From left: sheer grey with silver micro shimmers, shimmery baby blue with blue shimmers, shimmery light gold with gold shimmers & shimmery frosty white.

I swatched these shadows without primer (I don't normally use primers when I do swatches for review) and as you can see, these eyeshadows are really quite sheer and shimmery. The 01 Brown palette does have better colour payoff than 02 Gray, and the only shade that is more pigmented in these two palettes is the first shade in the 01 Brown palette. If you use a primer under these shadows, it will help to improve the pigmentation ever so slightly. The primer will also help to hold the shimmers in place.

These palettes obviously won't appeal to those who seek really intense and pigmented eyeshadows, as well as those who are not a big fan of shimmers. I have used both of these palettes and I think the resulting looks are very subtle, natural looks that are more day-time appropriate. The wear time on these shadows are not too great either. The first shade in both the palettes (the medium tan and the grey) can last for around 6 hours whereas the shimmery shades will only last around 3 hours on my lids. These shadows do have a very smooth texture and they blend very well. So I think they can be used on top of other shadows to add shimmers and dimensions.

I was wearing the 01 Brown palette in this photo. This makeup look was inspired by Hyuna in PSY's Gangnam Style music video. I am obsessed with that song and you have to go listen to it if you haven't heard it already.

The makeup look that Hyuna was wearing in the video has very minimal shadow (if there's any), so I used the shimmery gold all over the lids as a colour wash. Then I applied the light tan colour up to my socket line, and the medium tan colour on my upper lashline and the outer 1/3 of my lower lashline. I applied the shimmery pink on the front 2/3 of my lower lashline. I finished the look with black eyeliner, no blush and a bright pink lip colour (the colour I was wearing is the Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stain in 025 Sweetheart. I had to purchase these off ebay twice because I didn't receive them the first time round. Hopefully the seller can sort out the insurance claim for me asap).

A look wearing the 02 Gray palette. I used the shimmery baby blue all over the lids, then I layered the grey in the outer corners. I then applied the shimmery gold on the front 1/3 of my upper lids and the shimmery frosty white shade on the front 2/3 of my lower lashline as a highlight.
