Shu Uemura Chocolat-Donna Collection for Autumn/Winter 2012 (&1st Giveaway Winner Announcement)

Hi everyone. I can't believe how fast this year has flown by and that it's nearing the end of August now. In some parts of the world, autumn/fall is fast approaching. Autumn/fall is actually my favourite season in terms of weather and feel but I am not a very big fan of autumn/ fall makeup collections. Out of all the releases thus far, few have caught my attention and the Shu Uemura Chocolat-Donna collection is one of it.

A makeup collection inspired by chocolates. How can I possibly resist?

Here's what's in the collection.
3 limited edition palette, each containing 6 chocolate-inspired eyeshadows.

2 limited edition glow on powder blushes.

A new range of rouge unlimited supreme matte, available in 12 shades.

My favourite item in the collection: a limited edition brown feather eyelashes.

Although I am quite attracted to this collection, I didn't pick up that many items.
I purchased the Orange & Pistachio Palette, the Raspberry & Mocha Palette and the Choco-lash.

CHOCO-LASH
The Choco-lash is the first pair of feather lashes that I have ever bought and to be honest, I don't think I will wear them (unless, maybe if there's a very special occasion that calls for it). For now, this is going to join my false eyelashes collection that is happily residing in my drawer.

CHOCO-INSPIRED EYESHADOW PALETTE
Each of the palette is meant to represent different flavours of chocolate that is associated with romance, with the Orange and Pistachio palette representing bittersweet memories, the Raspberry and Mocha palette representing romantic memories and the Mint and Vanilla palette representing delight memories.

As usual, I think the packaging was the major factor that attracted my attention in the first place. Look at it!! The packaging looks just like a box of chocolate.

THE ORANGE & PISTACHIO PALETTE
I am not sure if these shadows have a name or code but they are just labelled as 01-06 on the label. From left: peachy orange base with gold and iridescent glitters, line green with a tiny hint of silver micro shimmers, satin finish gold beige, medium tan with gold sheen and shimmer (pink sheen at certain angles), warm mid-tone brown and charcoal brown.

For your information, the Orange and Pistachio palette is the one featured in the campaign photo.

THE RASPBERRY & MOCHA PALETTE
From left: medium brown with gold sheen and glitters, frosty baby pink, frosty peachy pink, very deep mauve with pink and gold micro shimmers, matte tan and matte charcoal.

Just in case you are wondering, the design on shadow 04 and 05 is overspray.

These two palettes get a huge thumbs up from me. Besides the gorgeous packaging and the beautiful design (cue shadow 04 and 05), I adore the colour combination of both of the palettes. The combination of brights and neutrals as well as the array of textures from matte to glittery makes these palettes very versatile and fun while still being wearable and easy to use. The glittery shades are pigmented and there isn't a ton of fallout when used over a primer with a patting motion on the eyes while the non-glittery shades are all smooth, easy to blend and very pigmented as well (colour 06 in the Raspberry and Mocha palette look a little dry and patchy when swatched but it works fine on the eyes).

I am also very impressed with the wear time of these shadows. I had my makeup on for 7-8 hours and the shadows stayed on with not much fading at all.

As usual, here's some self-ca photos of me wearing the eyeshadows.
Here, I was wearing the Orange and Pistachio palette inspired by the Chocolat-Donna campaign image. I didn't go with the bold lip colour because I think that is just a little over the top for me.  I was wearing the Miracle Cherry Blush Tint from the Aya Takano Christmas 2010 collection on my cheeks and the rouge unlimited supreme shine in SS-PK 340 on my lips.

By the way, please excuse my sweat. I was outside and I wanted to take some photos in sunlight so you can see the colours better. I didn't notice the sweat at the time >-<

The same look under a different lighting.

I used the Raspberry and Mocha Palette to create a very soft and natural look. On my cheeks, I have the Nature Republic Apple Dome Blusher in #1 Pink Apple and just clear lip balm on my lips.

Before I sign off, I just want to announce the winner of my blog's 1st giveaway.
