Dior Cherie Bow Collection for Spring 2013 Review | Cherie Bow Palette in Powder Pink, 5 Couleurs Cherie Bow in Ballerina Pink, Diorblush Cherie Bow in Pink Happiness & Tender Coral, Dior Addict Lipstick in Charmante, Candide & Espiegle, Dior Vernis in Tutu, Gris Trianon & Rosy Bow

Pink has always been and always will be one of my favourite colours on earth. Hence you can probably guess that I was VERY VERY excited when I spotted the (very pink) Dior Cherie Bow Collection for Spring 2013.

Oh, and I LOVE bows too. You can stick a bow onto almost anything and I will think that it's cute.

The above reason will pretty much explain why this happened.

I went a little crazy and bought the Cherie Bow palette in 001 Powder Pink, the 5 Couleurs Cherie Bow in 724 Ballerina Pink, the Diorblush Cherie Bow in 659 Tender Coral & 729 Pink Happiness, the Dior Addict Lipsticks in 437 Charmante, 457 Candide, 687 Espiegle and the Dior Vernis in 155 Tutu, 306 Gris Trianon & 355 Rosy Bow.

Other items in this collection includes:

Before I get into reviewing the items I got from this collection, I would like to commend Dior's vast improvement in their paper bags.
The paper quality is really nice and the gold Dior ribbon makes it very luxurious.

FYI, it used to look like this.

Now will be the perfect time for you to go get a drink and/or some snacks because this post is a very lengthy one.

DIOR CHERIE BOW PALETTE IN POWDER PINK (ROSE POUDRE)
*The actual full name of this product is actually Cherie Bow Makeup Palette for Glowing Eyes & Lips.
The top of the palette had a rubberized texture (much like the texture of NARS palettes) and the bottom is of a mirrored/reflective material. The clasp closure gives it a vintage glam feel in my opinion.

The first 3 colours from the left are eyeshadows, followed by an eyeliner and a lipgloss is enclosed by lid on the right.

This palette comes with a mini lip brush and a dual ended sponge-tip and angled brush. I never use mini applicators included in palettes... enough said.

Swatches from left: shimmering light pink with a frosty sheen, pale grey with a lilac tinge with a satin sheen, matte black with tiny silver specks, black cream eyeliner and sheer peach colour gloss.

The combination of the pink, grey and black is what made me pick 001 Powder Pink (Rose Poudre) over 002 Pearl Pink. The darker shades really help to ground the light pink colour so this palette is a very wearable one, even if you are not a massive pink eyeshadow fan.

The texture of the pink and pale grey is really nice as it fits my criteria of being smooth, pigmented, blendable and minimal fallout. The matte black is also quite a nice one, but I find the texture to be a smidgen dryer so there's a fallout issue with this one, especially since it's a much darker shade. The matte black does apply and blend well though, so it is not a bad shadow by any means.

I get about 6 hours of solid wear on the lids without a primer and 1-2 more hours with a primer. The weather in Kuala Lumpur has been especially stuffy of late so my skin has been especially oily.

The eyeliner is something that I don't bother using. With monolids and oily skin, I need something that is going to cling onto my skin like cement or I can get panda eyes within minutes.
This eyeliner smudges completely when you rub it.

The gloss is ok; it has quite a nice texture but it basically looks like a clear gloss on the lips.

5 COULEURS CHERIE BOW IN BALLERINA PINK (ROSE BALLERINE)
This palette has 2 mini dual ended sponge-tip applicators.

Top left- medium pink with a beige tone sheen, top right- light muted pink with a pale gold sheen, bottom left- pale pink tone beige with a frosty sheen, bottom right- stin finish mushroom taupe & center- platinum white glitter shadow.

My sentiment towards this palette is kinda lukewarm. I like the houndstooth imprint on the shadows and the colours do look really pretty in the pan. However, the colours in this palette are quite light and not very pigmented so they don't show up very well even on my skin tone that is quite fair. The top right and bottom left shade looks very similar on the lids and the top left medium pink shade needs to be built up for the pink to show.

I swatched the Charming Pink palette at the Dior counter and I actually prefer the texture of shadows in the Ballerina Pink palette. I find most of the shades in Charming Pink to be slightly stiff and dry (p/s it might just be the tester, since I don't own it and have never tested the actual product, I cannot say for sure). Although the pigmentation level is so so, the actual texture of the Ballerina Pink palette shadows is smooth and nicely blendable. The center glitter shade does tend to have quite a bit of fallout so I recommend using it over a primer or a sticky base with a patting motion.

Lighter shadows don't tend to last too well on my lids. I think it might be due to the fact that lighter shadows tend to look very similar to my skin tone once they begin fading.

DIORBLUSH CHERIE BOW IN TENDER CORAL (CORAIL TENDRE) & PINK HAPPINESS (ROSE BONHEUR)
The mini blush brush that comes with the Diorblush.

Left: Diorblush Cherie Bow in 659 Tender Coral (Corail Tendre). Right: Diorblush Cherie Bow in 729 Pink Happiness (Rose Bonheur).

Diorblush Cherie Bow in 659 Tender Coral (Corail Tendre). From left: 1st swatch (left color)- matte coral, 2nd swatch (right color)- shimmery pinkish coral with fine shimmers, 3rd swatch (both colour mixed together)- pinkish coral with a very subtle sheen and shimmer, 4th swatch- mixture of the 2 colours blended.

Diorblush Cherie Bow in 729 Pink Happiness (Rose Bonheur). From left: 1st swatch (left color)- matte yellow tone pink, 2nd swatch (right color)- shimmery pink that leans cool, 3rd swatch (both colours mixed together)- rosy pink with a satin sheen, 4th swatch- both colours mixed and blended out.

These blushes are 2 of my favourite pieces in this collection. I like the fact that they come with a matte and a shimmery side that are big enough to be picked up on their own (I love it when products are versatile!). The houndstooth imprint is a very nice touch as well~

In terms of texture, Pink Happiness is sightly stiffer and not as pigmented as Tender Coral so it needs to be built up a bit for true colour to show as I find that you will lose some colour intensity as you blend it out on the skin (it has a natural, sheerer finish). Tender Coral has a lovely smooth texture and it is very pigmented and blendable. Both blushes blends very nicely into the skin without any powderiness.

The lasting power of these blushes are also good. I got over 7 hours of solid wear with tender coral and around 6 hours with Pink Happiness.

DIOR ADDICT IN CHARMING (CHARMANTE), CANDID (CANDIDE) & MISCHIEVOUS (ESPIEGLE)

From left (1st swatch is 2 swipes and 2nd is a built up swatch): Charming (Charmante)- peachy shade with a hint of coral, Candid (Candide)- candy pink & Mischievous (Espiegle)- mauve tone pink with a hint of fuchsia

The Dior Addict lipsticks have various qualities that float my boat. I like that it has good colour payoff and beautiful glossiness on the lips. The texture is very light, smooth that glides onto the lips effortlessly that makes it very comfortable to wear. I typically get about 2-3 hours (maybe a bit less if I talk/drink/eat) of wear with the Dior Addict formula.

DIOR VERNIS IN TUTU, GRIS TRIANON & ROSY BOW
From left: Tutu (cream light pink), Gris Trianon (cream medium slate grey) & Rosy Bow (bright candy pink).

I absolutely adore the brush shape of Dior Vernis. It is flat, quite wide and slightly tapered so it can cover my entire nail in 2 strokes. The tapered end also allows for easy maneuver around the cuticles.

Index finger- 2 coats of Rosy Bow, ring finger- 2 coats of Tutu & middle finger and pinky have 3 coats of Tutu.

Index & ring finger- 2 coats of Rosy Bow, middle finger & pinky- 2 coats of Gris Trianon & thumb- 3 coats of Tutu.

I love the nail polishes from the Cherie Bow collection! The consistency is not too thick or too watery; it just spreads out nicely onto the nails with good opacity.

Expert nail painter can probably get away with using just 2 coats of Tutu. However, I don't really have a steady hand so I find that I need 3 coats of Tutu to get an even finish as Tutu can be prone to streaking if you are not very careful. Gris Trianon and Rosy Bow both applies very evenly and you only need 2 coats (or 1 thick coat) to achieve solid opacity.

These nail polishes last very well on me too. On average, the Cherie Bow collection Dior Vernis lasted for a whole week on my nails without any chipping and very minor tip wear (I cooked and baked quite a bit during the week too).

I used the Dior Cherie Bow palette in Powder Pink (Rose Poudre) in this look. I used the light pink shade all over my lids and the light grey half way up my lids. I then used the matte black to line my upper lash line and outer third of my lower lash line before redefining my lashline with a liquid liner. I also used the bottom left beige shade from the Ballerina Pink (Rose Ballerine) palette on the inner half of my lower lashline.

I also used the Pink Happiness (Rose Bonheur) blush on my cheeks and the Candid (Candide) Dior Addict Lipstick on my lips.

I also used to Cherie Bow palette for this look. I used the light pink on the inner half of my upper lids and the light grey on the outer half. Then I used the matte black to smudge out the pencil liner that I used to line my eyes. I had Mischievous (Espiegle) Dior Addict Lipstick on my lips.

Products used in this look: Ballerina Pink (Rose Ballerine) palette, Tender Coral (Corail Tendre) blush and Charming (Charmante) Dior Addict Lipstick.

I used a mixture of the top left (medium pink) and top right shade (light muted pink) all over the lids. Then, I used the bottom right (taupe) to smudge out a taupe eyeliner that I used to line my eyes. I then patted the center (platinum white glittery shade) onto the middle of my lids and onto the inner half of my lower lashline.
