Laura Mercier Lingerie Collection for Spring 2012 Makeup Review and Look

Hello everyone.
Today I have a makeup look inspired by the Laura Mercier Spring 2012 collection. As the name of the collection suggests, this collection comprises of very feminine and romantic colours inspired by fabrics and colours from the Victorian era.

I purchased 5 products from this collection: the eye and cheek palette, Creme Cheek colour in Innocent Peach, Sheer Lip Colour in Kissable Lips and Nude Lips and Lip Shine in Naked Apricot.

*Please excuse the dust*

Let's take a closer look at the products shall we.

The eye and cheek palette. There are six full size eyeshadow colours (Buff Pearl, Tawny Apricot, Rich Cocoa, Pale Pink, African Violet, and Black Plum)and two full size blushes (Rose Desire and Fresh Peach).
Laura Mercier consistently puts out very impressive palettes and this palette is no exception. The eyeshadows are pigmented and smooth and there is a mixture of different textures to create different looks. The bright pink and peach colour blushes are also perfect for spring.

There are 2 creme cheek colours: Oleander(a pink colour) and Innocent Peach (Peach colour). I purchased the latter because it's a limited edition shade whereas the pink one is permanent.
This product blends well into the skin and it dries down to a velvety finish that gives a very natural look. A sheer layer gives a natural flush of colour but it can definitely be built up for more colour to show (but when built up this colour starts to have a pinkish tone). I have oily skin and this product doesn't feel heavy on the skin but it also doesn't last for too many hours on my skin (around 3-4 hours and it starts to fade).

Sheer lip colour in Nude Lips (Neutral beige) and Kissed Lips (Coral). I personally really like lip products that are slightly sheerer but still shows on the lips, so it is to no surprise that I really like this. The texture is really smooth and light, and although it doesn't feel very moisturizing, it definitely doesn't dry out my lips. Typical of sheerer lipsticks, this doesn't last very long on the lips.

And lastly this is the Lip Shine in Naked Apricot. I don't normally like potted lip products but I really like the colour of this product that I am willing to deal with it. The colour is a salmony peach colour with micro-shimmers. This product is very smooth and sheer, so when applied on the lips it pretty much resembles the effects of a not-so-pigmented lipgloss. And, just like lip glosses, don't expect this to last very long on the lips either.

My attempt to recreate the makeup look from the campaign picture. Here are the products that I used.
  • Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation Primer
  • Benefit Porefessional
  • Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in B20
  • Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Pot in SC-2
  • Estee Lauder Disappear Smoothing Concealer in 2-light
  • Luara Mercier Lingerie Eye and Cheek Palette
  • Bobbi Brown Eyeliner Duo in Caviar and Gold
  • Helena Rubinstein Lash Queen Waterproof Mascara
  • Laura Mercier Creme cheek in Innocent Peach
  • Laura Mercier Sheer Lip Colour in Kissable Lips
  • Laura Mercier Lip Shine in Naked Apricot
Here's the final look. I used the same colours as the campaign (as listed in the leaflet) but obviously it's not going to look the same on me.

I also didn't use false lashes in order to make the look softer.

Here's a closer look at the eye makeup.

My favourite products from this collection are the Kissable Lips sheer lip colour and the Naked Apricot Lip shine. When layered together it gives a glossy peachy coral colour that is ultra pretty in my opinion.

Sorry I forgot to take photos of the product swatches. I will remember to do it next time.

By the way, I am thinking of doing makeup tutorials but would you prefer to see it in a video or pictures and text?
